Printmaking Part 3 - Type Liar

These prints are my series of drypoint etchings in metal. We were required to make a diptic of something mechanical, or machine-like. I chose a typewriter. I applied paper to the plate when i printed it which allowed it to stick with glue, and the weight of the press. It started out being just about a typewriter, and all the aspects of it, but as I was working, I decided to make the project about the news. I hardly ever watch the news on TV because I feel they are constantly leaving so much out, and they only seem to tell the sad, upsetting things. So these prints are about the news, and how media today is contently censored by the government and various other people. We never really know if what we are reading, watching, or hearing is really the truth, or if everything is being covered up and hidden.

Printmaking Part 2

More prints from my class. The top is an etching in plastic. It is a portrait of my friend Austin standing in the rain. 8 1/2 x 11

The second print, entitled Oonagh, is a monotype print. 5x7

Printmaking Part 1

These are 2 assignments from my Printmaking class. The first, Iron in London, is a reduction lino cut. In the assignment we were to have something organic in the print. I decided to use a portion of an iron fence, and try to make something very industrial have an organic quality to it. The second, entitled Alfie, is a woodblock print of my roommate's Dog. I enjoyed the way the wood cut, and decided on Alfie because I wanted something flowing and with movement so that I could really take advantage of the texture of the wood.

Self Portrait

An assignment for my figure drawing class, a lifesize self portriat. My shoulder isn't quite right, but i'm not sure how to fix that, and somehow I have aquired a man hand. Other than those two little hickups, I was pretty happy with the turn out.

Self Portrait at Age 10

This is a college a put together this summer. I found this old photograph that my neighbor, Pat Brezler, took of me when I was in 4th grade, and decided to make it into a college with black and white magazine pieces and oil pastel. It is pretty large, about 2 1/2 feet by 1 1/2 foot.

Paintings In Italy

I recently took my first painting class while I was studying abroad in Italy. It was a lot of experiementation. These are the best of those that I created while I was over there. All of them were painted from life with the exception of the self portrait which was half and half, and the Koi which was done by photograph.
