From Above

Yet another picture of Sam. It is oil pastel on paper. It was so much fun to work with and super fast! It's a little bigger than 8x10, but only took me a few hours one morning. I loved Sam's face in this picture. It isn't a normal expression, she looks scared, excited, and surprised all in one! I'm actually not sure which way is up for this one. It looks so different from all the angles, but I think this is my favorite!

She's That Hardcore

Sam is one of the most amazing people I know. Her expressions are always so different and unique. I think that this picture really portrays her attitude, making the mood very intense. I think it has an "I'm a member of Fight Club" feel to it. I did it with colored pencil, but tried to mix up the feel with the different textures and techniques to keep your eyes moving from her sunglasses and face to the hair and beads.
This is honestly one of my favorites ever!
Thanks for being That Hardcore Sam!

Untitled Pen and Ink

I love pen and ink because you can get so much detail. I took this picture with my cell phone while I was sitting in my dorm room one night. I am pretty sure I worked on this in order to procrastinate something.

Daisy

After our dog Daisy died, I drew this picture of her.
It was a photograph from Neighbor Pat.
It's my own little memorial to her. RIP Daisy.

Lydia & Monica

Lydia and Monica were sitting on High Rock when this picture was taken. I love how they looked so comfortable with eachother. The abstract around them is like the confusion in the world but the two of them are perfectly happy just being together and sit peacefully as the chaos of life surrounds them.

Gwen

My room mate Angelica loves Gwen Stephani. She is her idol, we have pictures of her all over our room. For lack of an art project idea, I decided to do a piece for Angelica of Mrs. Gwen. I used colored pencil and crosshatching. I did purple pinks and blues for fun. I mean, why not make a purple woman?
I am now reluctant to give Gwen away!

Self Portrait

A self portrait with colored pencil. I wanted to use vibrant colors so it would be in your face and pop out. I crosshatched the entire piece to give it a different feel than a normal colored pencil drawing. I think the crosshatching gives it extra movement and texture too.
My sister says it looks like I am trying to listen intently to something, or that I am shocked. It's all in how you see it I guess. I am still trying to come up with an interesting title for this but I'll get it eventually.
